For decades, the team at Minuteman Building & Preservation has managed, built, and preserved hundreds of projects through their combined experience across the industry.
While building and preserving some of our region’s most prominent landmarks, we couldn’t help noticing a trend: while many large companies have a full time facilities management staff, many, if not most, historic landmarks, churches, libraries and other institutional buildings do not. This is a disservice to history as well as the buildings themselves.
Building, maintaining, and preserving these buildings is commonly delegated to volunteers who may not be appropriately knowledgable or have all the resources to do so. We have consistently found ourselves involved in projects that could have been avoided or gone smoother if we were involved earlier. For example, considerations such as code, handicap accessibility, historical sensitivity, or the long term well being of the building require specific expertise.
Having a historically knowledgable contractor involved from the beginning - consulting with your architects and design firm, advising the historical society, and working hand-in-hand with your volunteers - allows for the smoothest possible process, as well as the most respectful approach to restoration.
